About Partners Memo

Partners Memo is built by a fund manager who studies the world's best investors to sharpen his own edge. This is a personal project born from a simple habit: watching interviews with great investors and extracting the principles that make them exceptional.

Over time, a pattern emerged. The same fundamental questions kept surfacing across every great investor's philosophy. We distilled these into a rigorous framework.

The 6-Question Framework

Every memo on this site is structured around six questions that get to the heart of investment excellence:

1. What makes a great investor?

Character traits, decision-making processes, temperament, and habits that set the best apart.

2. What makes a great investment?

How they identify opportunities, evaluate risk/reward, and think about valuation.

3. What makes a great company?

Business model characteristics, competitive advantages, and structural qualities they look for.

4. What makes a great leadership?

Management qualities, capital allocation skill, team dynamics, and alignment of incentives.

5. What makes a great culture?

Organizational values, adaptability, and the intangible factors that compound over time.

6. What are the biggest mistakes & lessons learned?

Hard-won wisdom from failures, blown trades, and course corrections — where the real learning lives.

Why This Exists

The best investors are remarkable teachers—if you know how to listen. Most of their wisdom is scattered across hours of interviews, letters, and talks. Partners Memo organizes that wisdom into a consistent, searchable format so you can learn from the best, faster.

This is not investment advice. It's a study tool for serious students of investing.
